About Cronos zkEVM
Cronos zkEVM launched as an alpha mainnet on August 15, 2024, built with Matter Labs on ZKsync's ZK Stack. On June 3, 2026 Cronos announced it would sunset the zkEVM Alpha and focus on the Cronos EVM network. Bridge deposits are disabled, while RPC endpoints, the sequencer and withdrawals through the official bridge remain available until June 3, 2027 at 03:00 UTC; assets left on-chain after that will not be recoverable.
The chain follows ZKsync EVM conventions, including native account abstraction that allows paymaster-sponsored or alternative-token fees. Withdrawals still require zkCRO for gas. New projects should target Cronos EVM; existing users and indexers should use the remaining window to withdraw and archive data.
