Edge (EDGE Chain) is the app-specific chain run by edgeX, a perpetual futures DEX incubated by Amber Group. It is built on Arbitrum technology as a Layer 3 that uses Arbitrum for security and settles to Ethereum.

About Edge

edgeX announced EDGE Chain on Arbitrum in March 2026 as the home for its v2 platform, moving trading off its earlier StarkEx-based v1. The chain separates perpetual matching and liquidations (edgeVM) from asset issuance, governance and general DeFi logic (edgeEVM).

The edgeEVM side is what standard Ethereum JSON-RPC exposes, so EVM wallets and tooling can connect using chain ID 3343. Circle announced native USDC and CCTP support for EDGE Chain, which matters for apps moving collateral to and from the network.

Common Use Cases on Edge

  • Perpetual futures trading on edgeX
  • Native USDC transfers via CCTP
  • Asset issuance and governance contracts on edgeEVM
  • Indexing edgeX on-chain activity

Quick Start: Connect to Edge

cURL

curl -X POST https://rpc.swiftnodes.io/rpc/edge?key=YOUR_API_KEY \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","method":"eth_blockNumber","params":[],"id":1}'

ethers.js

import { JsonRpcProvider } from "ethers";

const provider = new JsonRpcProvider(
  "https://rpc.swiftnodes.io/rpc/edge?key=YOUR_API_KEY"
);

const blockNumber = await provider.getBlockNumber();
console.log("Edge block:", blockNumber);

viem

import { createPublicClient, http } from "viem";

const client = createPublicClient({
  transport: http("https://rpc.swiftnodes.io/rpc/edge?key=YOUR_API_KEY"),
});

const blockNumber = await client.getBlockNumber();

web3.py

from web3 import Web3

w3 = Web3(Web3.HTTPProvider("https://rpc.swiftnodes.io/rpc/edge?key=YOUR_API_KEY"))
print("Edge block:", w3.eth.block_number)
