About XRPL EVM
The sidechain was developed by Ripple, Peersyst and Axelar and launched on mainnet on June 30, 2025. It runs its own consensus, independent of XRPL, currently as proof-of-authority with a restricted validator set that includes Ripple and Peersyst, with plans to decentralize over time.
The EVM targets the Prague fork and Solidity up to 0.8.30, so Hardhat, Foundry, Remix and MetaMask work with standard JSON-RPC. CometBFT gives deterministic finality, so blocks do not reorganize once committed. Bridging runs through Axelar and Wormhole, with IBC links to Cosmos chains.
