About Merlin Chain
Bitmap Tech announced Merlin Chain in January 2024 and the mainnet went live on February 8, 2024. It was built with Lumoz using the Polygon CDK and currently operates as a validium-style chain with a data availability committee, combining a ZK-rollup network, a decentralized oracle network and on-chain BTC fraud-proof modules.
Developers can deploy Solidity contracts and use Ethereum JSON-RPC, with fees paid in bridged BTC (Merlin BTC). The ecosystem centers on Bitcoin inscription and token protocols bridged from L1.
Common Use Cases on Merlin Chain
- Trading and lending BRC-20 and Runes assets
- Ordinals and Bitmap marketplaces
- BTC-gas DeFi apps
- Bridging Bitcoin-native assets to EVM
