About Mezo

Mezo launched its mainnet on May 28, 2025. The chain client, mezod, is a heavily modified fork of Evmos built on the Cosmos SDK with CometBFT consensus, and BTC enters the chain through bridges such as tBTC.

Mezo is fully EVM-compatible, so Hardhat, Foundry and Ethereum JSON-RPC tools work as usual. The native BTC balance uses 18 decimals on both testnet and mainnet, so do not assume Bitcoin's 8 decimals when formatting amounts.

Common Use Cases on Mezo

  • Borrowing MUSD against BTC
  • BTC-gas DeFi and payments
  • Bridging BTC via tBTC
  • BTC yield strategies
