https://rpc.swiftnodes.io/rpc/tea?key=YOUR_API_KEYwss://rpc.swiftnodes.io/ws/tea?key=YOUR_API_KEYTea is an OP Stack Layer 2 that settles to Ethereum and runs the tea protocol, which measures the impact of open-source projects and rewards their maintainers and supporters. TEA is the native gas token.

- Block time:
- ~2 s (average of the last 1,000 blocks)
- eth_getLogs range:
- 50,000-block ranges accepted (the largest we test)
- Historical state:
- readable at least 1,000,000 blocks back

About Tea
The tea protocol began as a dApp and moved to its own OP Stack rollup to cut transaction costs; mainnet and the TEA token went live on June 4, 2026. Projects are scored by Proof of Contribution and teaRank across the open-source dependency graph, and TEA holders can stake to specific projects.
The chain uses a modified Geth client with EVM equivalence, so MetaMask, Foundry and Hardhat work unchanged. It adds a GPG signature-verification precompile at address 0x696, letting maintainers control smart contract wallets with their existing GPG keys, and its wallet design targets EIP-7702 compatibility.
Common Use Cases on Tea
- Registering open-source projects and claiming maintainership
- Staking TEA to support specific open-source projects
- Distributing rewards based on teaRank
- GPG-key-controlled smart contract wallets

Frequently Asked Questions: Tea
What is the Tea chain ID?
The Tea chain ID is 6122 (0x17ea).
What is the gas token on Tea?
Gas on the Tea network is paid in TEA, the protocol's native token.
Does Tea have any non-standard EVM features?
Yes. Tea adds a precompile at address 0x696 that verifies GPG/PGP signatures, so contracts can authenticate developers by their existing GPG keys. Otherwise it is EVM-equivalent and standard Ethereum tooling works.
