eth_gasPrice on Ink

Supported on SwiftNodes

Everything below was measured on 2026-10-13 by calling eth_gasPrice on Ink through the same endpoint customers use, and is re-measured weekly.

What eth_gasPrice does

Returns the node's suggested gas price in wei for a legacy (type 0) transaction. On EIP-1559 chains it is usually the current base fee plus a suggested tip, which can sit well above what transactions actually pay.

eth_gasPrice on Ink: what we measured

eth_gasPrice0.00100 gwei
Base fee of the latest block299 wei
eth_maxPriorityFeePerGas0.00100 gwei
Median tip paid (last 20 blocks)99,999 wei

Should you use it?

eth_gasPrice suggested 0.00100 gwei, but the base fee plus the median tip actually paid came to 100,298 wei. A legacy transaction priced with eth_gasPrice pays about 10.0 times what it needs to. Send EIP-1559 transactions with the tip taken from eth_feeHistory.

const gasPrice = await client.getGasPrice(); // legacy price, wei

// EIP-1559 fees from recent blocks instead of the suggestion
const { baseFeePerGas, reward } = await client.getFeeHistory({ blockCount: 20, rewardPercentiles: [50] });
const tips = reward!.map((r) => r[0]).sort((a, b) => (a < b ? -1 : a > b ? 1 : 0));
const maxPriorityFeePerGas = tips[10];
const maxFeePerGas = baseFeePerGas.at(-1)! * 2n + maxPriorityFeePerGas;
